Is your brand worth the proper investment?

Lately, I’ve been having in-depth conversations about the quality of investment the person behind the brand puts into it. Do they view it as an investment that will make their brand work or a cost to the business budget because it just has to get done? What do you think?

More than half of the inquires I receive are for logo projects based on my portfolio or WOM. Saying they want that touch for their brand. So I go over my process and price to create the experience they saw or heard. That’s when I become too expensive and told all they want is a logo and off to a lower competitor they go. It happens.

To be frank, at the beginning of starting my business, when I heard this I was hurt and felt slighted. However, I know the value of my work and serve those who do as well. I enjoy collaborating with those who see the value of their brand and the potential I see their brand becoming. I’m very grateful for those experiences to see their brand grow through the hard work of positioning it for success. To watch it all be put into action and take off is a fulfilling experience. However, that takes the quality investment of time and resources to get a brand to have that type of success starting and lasting. 

Then there are those I see running their brand get caught up in myths about what a brand is, and that success they crave can be done cheaply and easily. So they don’t trust that quality investments into their brand is worth it. It hurt my heart to see and hear many believe that and perpetuated on social media. They end up throwing more money on poor investments they think will work quickly for them to make money, only to get them nowhere. Then they are left with their business hurting, losing more money, and frustrated with a bad brand and design experiences. Failing to trust proper and quality investment into their brand could save them money and make them more money in the long run.

I hope that many who are running their brand see putting quality investment into their brand is worth it. That includes money, time, effort, and patience. So they look back on all the success the brand has had because of it.
