Reflecting on a Flashback

Sometimes Instagram can bring good memories back to mind. For instance today it brought up an image I posted last year of a brand concept I came up with.

Fun fact: This design concept helped me land the gig to be part of the creative team this year for the Food Network & Cooking Channel South Beach Wine & Food Festival presented by Capital One. (🔌)

Lessons learned?

  • Put out the type of work/design I want to ATTRACT and DO!

  • I have good design skills and cultivating it can lead to awesome opportunities!

  • Don’t think no one is looking at my work! So having it on point is crucial!

Just when I was being down on myself as a visual brand designer this opportunity came my way. I didn’t stop designing, learning, or putting my work out. I just felt stagnant in the way things were going for my business.

I cannot tell what the future holds for me work-wise and that can be scary for anyone having a business. Not to know if what you’re doing is working or not. If you’ll make money doing what you love to do. If others will trust what the expertise you worked so hard for. I can go on and on but I think you get the point.

Another point I want to bring out is that I’m very proud of myself for not giving up on the business I wanted to cultivate for myself. I’m still learning as a business owner the ends and out. However, because of my hard work and patience, I put into practice last year it leads to the opportunities I gained this year.

Just some thoughts at the moment I wanted to share ;)
