1 Way You Can Keep Your Branding From Falling Flat

If you don't know by now from my past blog posts, see the latest one here, I talk a lot about how important branding is to your brand's growth. With branding, you help to shape the perception of your brand in the mind of your ideal customer. Remember, your brand isn't what you say it is, it's what they say it is. All by the way you present your brand to them through branding.

Ok, so if you did the work of defining your brand and your audience kudos to you. Defining those areas of your business will make branding a bit easier. If you haven't, please do it. Rather you get someone like me to help you, or you research the university of Google and Youtube on your own to figure it out. Just do it! Then you'll be able to think about the people you're serving easier because it'll inspire how your brand should look and feel to appeal to your ideal customer.

It's important because your branding should tell in different ways how you are the brand for your ideal customer. Mike Janda from Biz Buds Podcast with Tom Ross says, "if (your branding) don't resonate with your intended audience, there is a disconnect of the whole brand in the mind of the audience, and it can fall flat." You want to avoid this because the business success is base on your customers investing in your business.

How can you keep your branding from falling flat?

One of the main ways is by really listening to your audience! In this area, a lot of business owners neglect, leading some to go out of business. Think Quibi. Even after your business has started it's important to continuously listen to your audience and adjust if you need to. Quibi failed after a short time of existing and lost a lot of money. What could have helped them? Listening to their ideal clients to provide what they needed to keep them invested.

Are you listening to your audience? How do you know?
Here are some questions you can ask yourself:

  • When's the last time you talked to your audience and got their feedback on anything?

  • Do you know what they like or dislike about the product/services in your industry?

  • Do you know what they like or dislike about your product/services in particular?

  • What are their current pain-points?

  • What are their current goals?

  • Can they describe what type of personality your brand has?

See if you can get answers to these questions from your ideal customers. Knowing some of these points will help you listen to your audience better and address these in areas in the way you're branding your business. It can hurt your brand if your branding is communicating the wrong things to your ideal clients. Especially if you didn't know it. How? By falling flat with them and causing them to go to another brand they feel fits their needs better.

How you communicate with branding matters and is apart of the success and growth of your business. Do yourself a favor and get to know your audience better. Ask them questions you always wanted to ask them either on the IG or send them a form to fill out. Doing this will help your ideal customers feel like you care about them and gives you the insight you might need to know to keep you in business and connect with them more.

P.S. Let me know if this was helpful!
