One of the things I love about doing brand strategy is getting to know the person behind the brand. Understanding the person behind the brand helps power me to create something impactful for them!

 

I had the pleasure of working with a local community group I’m apart of this past weekend to help startups. We are 1909 is a community of entrepreneurs and creators helping one another take steps forward together. I love being apart of this community since I joined last October.

This past weekend they held a Co-Lab Day turning 4 startup problems into projects and try to complete them in ONE DAY!!! Each founder whose businesses were being worked on was surrounded by talented professionals capable of making meaningful contributions. I had the privilege of being part of the Imanyco team.

Little did I know what an impact I would have this day and her mission would have on me! She has an amazing story and mission to change the way the deaf and hard of hearing community live their everyday lives! I really feel that what she is doing can really have a huge impact on the community she’s impacting and for herself as well as a deaf and hard-hearing person.

Saïda had two things that needed to be worked on this day and one was the functionality of the app she’s creating and branding. I love coding HTML and CSS as a website designer however app and backend development is out of my wheelhouse of skills. So naturally, I was over the branding for your brand.

After researching the brand's essences and speaking with Saïda, I came to find this brand is too valuable to leave any piece of it to chance! A brand strategy was needed for this brand before any branding could be done. This brand called for a rebrand.

After Saïda mentioned she was having a hard time explaining what the name meant and people were having a hard time saying it that’s when I knew I where to start and proceed with the strategy for this brand. It's important the brand's name is not only protectable but also easy to pronounce for the community that will use this brand in their everyday life.

The research was done and a list of names was created for the rebrand. Then a plan of action was put into place to be carried out to ensure the name could be used especially in the countries the brand plans on doing business in. This will lessen any legal risks when it comes to launching this brand and expanding it. Along with a new name we came to realize the brands story and positioning needed to be clearly defined and came up with a strategy for that will flow throughtout the who entire brand. As far as any visuals that can go along with the brand I came up with color palates that fit the vibe of the brand’s goals and that were app friendly. Along withimagery direction that can help tell the brand’s story and connect with it’s intended audience and investors as well.

That was a lot to do in one day, but it was well worth it to help Saïda and her brand. Now she has a better understanding of what is needed before she can really create any branding and have a new logo and whole identity for the brand. I was able to help her define the brand with purpose, intention, and awareness with a clear plan in place that she can put into action.

So proud of the work that I and others did for her and her mission that weekend! Such a gamer changer and for We Are 1909 for allowing me to be a partner on this!
